Strength and Conditioning

We are very excited to be offering Strength and Conditioning services in 2021.

This in my opinion is the perfect combination between increasing athletic performance, reducing risk of injury and the added benefit of injury management should one occur! It marries the world of Sport Therapy and Strength and Conditioning.

What does this mean? We are able to train specific qualities required for your chosen sport, to increase athleticism for maximal gain.

What`s the difference between Strength and Conditioning and Personal Training? “Both professions can clearly be split into two very different populations. Personal Trainers work with the general population, whereas Strength and Conditioning coaches work with an athlete population.” Bodyfitnt

This does not mean that a S&C Coach cannot work with general population, they in my opinion are geared toward improving general or more specific attributes relevant to the individual. With more of us staying indoors and working from home we are at risk of higher risk associated with inactivity. I am not here to preach that moderate intensive activity in the day is beneficial, but I am here to tell you there is something we can do to combat this! Movement! Doesn’t matter what type, but that the dose is efficient for the individual. Now whilst we cannot do specific workouts at the desk or in the office, we can try to introduce mobility work to keep you mobilised, and to reduce the feeling of “tightness” associated with being stuck at the desk.

Here are some of my “go to” exercises, that can be done everyday!

1 Lateral Lunges

2 Squat with overhead reach

3 Wall angels

4 Reverse/Nordic curls

5 Scapular retraction

Updates on the above to follow soon. In the meantime keep fit and be strong!
